An industrial project focused on local cocoa processing
SAMEN INDUSTRY S.A. is developing a plant project in Baré-Bakem, in Cameroon’s Moungo department, to process cocoa beans into semi-finished and finished products. The site is located in the Littoral region, approximately 154 km from Douala. Cameroonian business media have described the development as a new grinding facility intended to expand domestic cocoa processing capacity. Other publications have also reported on the industrial project under construction in Baré-Bakem.2,3

The project is promoted by Patrice Samen, promoter of SAMEN INDUSTRY S.A. and mayor of Nkongsamba 2nd. Its industrial rationale is aligned with the SND30 framework and import-substitution policy, converting an agricultural raw material into cocoa derivatives intended for professional manufacturing markets.
Announced plant configuration and capacity
Official announcementsVerified company information places the facility on a 3-hectare site, with approximately 1.4 hectares allocated to the main building. The grinding line is designed for around 4 tonnes of cocoa beans per hour, equivalent to approximately 32,000 tonnes per year. This planned annual capacity was also highlighted by business media when reporting on the project.2
The estimated investment ranges from XAF 20 billion to XAF 30 billion. The project is expected to create between 300 and 500 direct jobs. These figures describe the planned industrial configuration. They should not be interpreted as confirmation of current output, immediately available sales volumes or employees already recruited.
The foundation stone was laid in Baré-Bakem on 27 February 2026, with Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana and Agriculture Minister Gabriel Mbairobe in attendance. This formal project milestone was covered by national media. Press reporting has also connected the Baré-Bakem development with broader cocoa-processing activity in the surrounding production area.4,5

Cocoa derivatives for industrial customers
The announced processing scope includes cocoa butter, powder, liquor or mass, and cake. This product range would position SAMEN INDUSTRY as a potential supplier to chocolate manufacturers, food companies and other industrial processors requiring cocoa ingredients.
Before any supplier approval or purchasing decision, buyers will need confirmed commercial and technical information for each derivative. Relevant points include physicochemical specifications, packaging formats, available volumes, delivery schedules, quality-control procedures and logistics arrangements. No product or management-system certification can be inferred from the sources currently available.
Documentary preparation covering traceability, bean origin and destination-market requirements will also need to be assessed through supporting records. Such work concerns documentary readiness only and does not justify describing SAMEN INDUSTRY or any shipment as compliant with a specific regulatory framework.
Information requiring confirmation as of the reference date
Commissioning had been announced for a date before July 2026. As of this article’s reference date, none of the usable supplied sources confirms that the grinding line has effectively started, completed industrial trials or entered commercial production. The plant’s current operating status must therefore be confirmed directly with SAMEN INDUSTRY.
Industrial partners should also request an updated implementation schedule, equipment-completion status, immediately mobilisable capacity and actual availability of each cocoa derivative. Press reports concerning the construction phase establish the project’s stated scale and industrial ambition, but they do not replace recent technical and commercial due diligence.6
For SAMEN INDUSTRY, the key next step is to document the transition from a construction project to a qualified industrial offering. Buyers and partners will require evidence covering installed capacity, production consistency, technical data sheets, quality organisation, supply traceability and delivery conditions. Until those elements are updated and verified, the figures presented should be read as planned capacity and expected impact rather than confirmed operating performance.
